Project overview
Our client operates several gas fields within the Bowen Basin. We were engaged to plan and deliver a 2D seismic survey with the primary focus of improving structural definition of leads and prospects in the Bandanna and Mantuan formations, as well as identifying new leads and prospects and improving structural definition of deeper potential targets.
The survey overlay 15 different landowners, as well as sections of state and local road reserves, with traffic control required where work was undertaken near public roads. Large areas of wheat and chickpea crops were being grown and spread of weed species between properties was a concern for the landowners.
SIMOPS with farm activities, local township activities, airstrips, pipeline construction and production operations were managed as part of the project delivery.
The survey was undertaken as a low impact activity, with only limited slashing undertaken to ensure no significant ground disturbance occurred.
ResourceGeo services
Project Management Services as required to plan and deliver the project in accordance the requirements of the Queensland Petroleum and Gas (Production and Safety) Act 2004. We met these requirements by utilizing the ResourceGeo integrated management system supplemented by our Seismic Project Management Manual - QLD Addendum. Based on the PMBOK project management system, this provided all the checks and controls to provide a successful outcome for our client.
Survey Area Logistics Scout
To assist refining the project scope and risks, we scouted the preliminary survey lines. We focused on understanding operational and health and safety constraints affecting the execution of the project, as well as confirming environmentally sensitive areas and any requirement for ecology surveys.
Project Delivery Management
We provided project delivery support including:
• Daily operations, risk & cost reviews with seismic contractor.
• Project cost tracking and forecasting.
• Daily verbal and written progress reporting to the client
• Land Access interface and co-ordination with stakeholders
Seismic Survey Report
Within one week of completion of the fieldwork, we delivered the seismic survey report to the client. This was produced in accordance with the requirements of the Petroleum and gas (General Provisions) Regulations 2017 (QLD) s38(3) and s38(4).
Environmental Closeout
As part of the project closeout, we compiled a database of post-survey conditions of the seismic lines and any other areas of activity affected by the survey using a combination of ground and drone photogrammetry to support the reported outcomes.
